New Hard Seltzer’s in 2021
Arizona Tea and Heineken are working in collaboration to bring SunRise Hard Seltzer to market. It’s set to launch very soon in, “early 2021”. The seltzers are made with a splash of real fruit, available in four flavors: Mucho Mango, Cherry Punch, Lemon, and Grapefruit. They’ll come in either a variety pack with 12oz cans, or in 19.2oz cans like the teas.
Rapper Travis Scott and Anheuser-Busch have partnered to create CACTI Agave Spiked Seltzer, and is set to hit shelves this spring. Inspired by Scott’s love of tequila, CACTI is made of 100% premium blue weber agave.
There is significantly more unknown than known, but Sierra Nevada has said they will release a hard seltzer called Agua Azul in 2021.
Mikes Hard Lemonade is set to expand their new seltzer business, which debuted in Britain, to the US in 2 months. Mike’s was at the forefront of the ready to drink beverage category, faced with a changing market, they’re adapting to meet new consumer expectations. Their seltzer line has become increasingly popular in the UK in flavors of Black Cherry, Lemon, and Lime. Their US line will likely look very different with potential new flavors, but continuing to be gluten free, vegan, less than 100 calories, and made with natural flavors.
Coca Cola and Molson Coors are teaming up to bring Topo Chico, Coke’s successful Mexican imported fizzy water, to the states. The production and packaging of the Topo Chico Hard Seltzer will be initially handled by an outside company. This will be the third hard seltzer in Coors’ portfolio alongside Vizzy and Coors Seltzers.
VPX Sports, parent company of Bang beverages, will add its first alcoholic beverage to the portfolio with their new hard seltzer, Mixx. Unlike the energy drink, Mixx has 0 caffeine, 5% ABV, added electrolytes, and no carbs or sugar. Mixx will come in seven flavors, all of which will be familiar to Bang drinkers; Mango Bango, Pina Colada, Purple Kiddles, Frose Rose, Strawberry Blast, Lemon Drop, and the new Key Lime Pie. Retailers that will carry Mixx include Kroger, Target, Walmart, and the convenience store chains, QuikTrip and 7-Eleven.
Michelob Ultra’s athletic and health conscious customer base, surely can appreciate the way Michelob has positioned its new organic seltzer. It’s sitting at 80 calories, where 100 calories is the status quo and also as 0 carbs and 0 sugar. The flavors are unique as well; Spicy Pineapple, Cucumber Lime, and Peach Pear.
Gordon Ramsey, one of the more surprising names to get into the seltzer scene, has announced he will release a seltzer line this year. Each of the flavors, like Berry Inferno, are inspired by a dish from a Hell’s Kitchen restaurant. The seltzer is starting off in the UK with partnerships from Brew Pipeline and Global Brews of London.
Coors will make another addition to their seltzer portfolio will Proof Point Spirited Seltzers. With their Vizzy and Coors Seltzer brands established and highly successful they differentiate proof point with their creative new flavors which are inspired by real cocktails, and recreated in seltzer form.
